TEACHING BLACKJACK OPENS DOORS I realized very quickly that the appearances on radio shows in Boston (Larry Glick and Jerry Williams), New York (Bob Grant), Philadelphia (Irv Homer and Dominick Quinn), plus the TV appearances in Boston’s, "Who’s Talking," "Good Morning America," and a national TV show called "Chronicle," led to an enormous response from viewers who wanted to learn how to play and win at blackjack. That’s when I decided that I would split my time playing blackjack and teaching. I usually taught on weekends because the casinos were crowded and the playing conditions were not good. It was during one of my blackjack classes in Boston where one of the students had booked four of his high roller friends. They all had been losers and wanted to learn how to play correctly. None of them even knew the correct basic strategy for the game. Some of them had read a few books on blackjack, but for the most part they did not adhere to any semblance of the correct plays needed to at least lessen their disadvantage let alone gain the edge. After having taught for a number of years you get a sense of which students are going to be serious about assimilating, practicing, and putting into practice everything that I taught them, and which ones are just wasting their money. My guess is that only 5% of my students would practice and be able to play and count correctly. The reason I know this is that I tell all of them that they can call me if they have any questions regarding any part of the system that I taught them. They also can be checked and critiqued by me after having assimilated the method at no charge. This is how I arrive at the 5% figure. It was during one of these classes that the person who booked his friends approached me after the class and said, "Why do I have to learn this? Can’t I just hire you to play for me?" I said, "Yes, but under these conditions... ...enter your member login information below to read this article/newsletter...
