HOW TO CALCULATE WHEN YOU ARE

ON THE BUTTON ON THE LAST HAND

by Ken Einiger

Ken Einiger is the 2005 World Champion of blackjack. The tournament was held at the Golden Nugget hotel on April 22, 2005 in downtown Las Vegas and was televised on GSN. In 2004-05 Ken had the best run in tournament blackjack to date. Ken went to the finals 7 times, 4 of them Ken walked away the winner. Ken is the author of the new book, Play to Win, available at 10% discount at the BJI online store.

You should be able to do the arithmetic regarding your position in seconds. Regardless of the number of people at the table, the math is basically the same. For example, if six people are at the table, the round is 30 hands, and the guy to your left bets first, you'll be betting last on the final hand, but first at the conclusion of one trip of the button around the table, which is hand 6. That means you'll also be betting first on hands that are multiples of six numbers 12, 18, 24, and the crucial 30 (last hand). You have to make this calculation every time play starts.

If you are still confused then use this three step method for calculating button position which is contained in my new book, Play to Win.
