WYNN LAS VEGAS
THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
by LV Tournament Pro
LV Tournament Pro is the pseudonym of a skilled advantage blackjack player and an experienced tournament player who has won over $400,000 playing blackjack tournaments. Last year he finished first in a monthly qualifier in the Las Vegas Hilton Million Dollar Blackjack tournament and he will be competing in the Finals in May 2005 for a shot at a million bucks. He also recently competed in the World Series of Blackjack 2005. His peers consider him to be one of the strongest blackjack tournament players.
When I was asked to cover the opening of Wynn Resorts for BJI, my first reaction was, "this will be good." So I set things in motion and called Wynn Resorts and asked for press credentials. I did this so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the mass of people that were expected to be there once the doors were open to the general public. Plus if the staff knows that you are a working reporter it would make my assignment a lot easier and stress free. We all remember what happened to me at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when I was accosted by security for walking around the pit with paper and pen taking notes of game conditions. You can read that report in the December 2004 issue of Blackjack Insider.
So having that issue squared away I assumed all was good. When I spoke with a lady in their Public Relations department she asked what publication I worked for and I told her BJ Insider. It seemed to me that meant nothing to her or at least I thought so. I could have told her I wrote for GQ, but why? The casinos lie enough to all of us so why should I be like them?
