LAS VEGAS BLACKJACK REPORT:
BAH HUMBUG to WEST FLAMINGO
By LV Tournament Pro
Tournament Pro is the pseudonym of a skilled advantage blackjack player and an experienced tournament player who has won over $400,000 playing in blackjack tournaments. He recently finished first in a monthly qualifier in the Las Vegas Hilton Million Dollar Blackjack tournament and recently competed in the taped World Series of Blackjack II at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. His peers consider him to be one of the strongest blackjack tournament players in Las Vegas.
Last months article focused on playing conditions on Paradise Road and my adventure at the Hard Rock. This monthís report will feature three casinos on the west side of Flamingo Road. We all know that flamingos are pretty pink birds of paradise but like Paradise Road, Flamingo Road is not a pretty place to play blackjack. As a matter of fact the only thing you might find if you decide to play here is the same thing you would get if you stood under a tree full of well-fed birds. If you get the drift.
The month of December is historically a slow month for the casino business in Las Vegas as most folks stay close to home for the holidays and shop for family gifts. The rodeo comes to town in December bringing a stable full of cowboys and cowgirls which is the only thing that saves the month for the casino owners. Otherwise, Las Vegas would look like a deserted town this time of the year. So how does the Gold Coast casino reward these players that help pay the electric bill during this slow period? They knock there cowboy hats off their heads by cutting their double decks games right in half, dealing one deck out of two with the dealerís hitting soft 17 and you can split aces only once. On their shoe game they deal only 4 decks out of 6.
