A WORD FROM HENRY
We welcome Kevin Blackwood, one of the world’s best card counters, to our stable of writers. His contribution this month is about the World’s Greatest Job (can you guess what it is?). Our LV Pro reports on his first trip to Sin City after being laid up for 6 months with a slipped disk. You’ll read about his latest adventures at the blackjack tables in Las Vegas including how he finally got up enough nerve to bet $100 a hand and where he found a great place to play blackjack on Saturday night in Vegas without big crowds (you’ll never guess where). Alene Paone and Frank Scoblete give the run down on the latest blackjack playing conditions in Atlantic City and some info on the soon to open Borgata Casino Hotel. LV Pro reviews the controversial new book, The Card Counter’s Guide to Casino Surveillance by Cellini, and offers his opinion on whether the book’s $99 price tag is worth it. As most of you know, I was in the finals of the recent Las Vegas Hilton Million Dollar Blackjack Tournament. No, I didn’t win the big one and the reason why is summarized in my article, Hilton Million. I’ve also summarized the last five hands of the championship round at the end of the article so you can see why luck is important in blackjack tournaments. Finally we have the schedule of upcoming major blackjack tournaments. Enjoy.
A reminder - if you come across an unfamiliar blackjack term in one of our articles or reports, see our Blackjack Glossary: www.bjinsider.com/questions_glossary.shtml
WORLD’S GREATEST JOB by Kevin Blackwood
"For the last two decades I’ve lived what many would consider the American dream, earning big bucks while working part-time. My profession? Card counter. My office? Blackjack tables all over the world..."
LV PRO TRIP REPORT by LV Pro
"I checked in to Casino Royal for the weekend. After settling in, I played an afternoon session at their double deck game with two other players. There were still all the same familiar faces in the CR pit. Spreading $10-$60, I won $230 in an hour. Why I am still cocking around with those small spreads? I’ve got most of $10K in my pocket. A $100 bet represents only 1% of my bankroll..."
ATLANTIC CITY BLACKJACK REPORT by Alene Paone & Frank Scoblete
"Borgata. Those are the words on everyone’s lips, as the opening of this hopefully stellar casino will usher in a new era for Atlantic City, the beginning of the Queen of Resorts becoming an actual resort destination and not just a day-trippers paradise..."
"This book by DV Cellini has caused quite a stir in the blackjack world since it’s release late last year. Much has been made of the fact information of this sort has never been made available to the public before..."

HILTON MILLION by Henry Tamburin "In about 30 minutes it was over. I lost on the last hand in the first round of the Las Vegas Hilton’s Million Dollar Blackjack Finals to a fellow player that doubled down on hard 14 and drew a 7 for a 21. He advanced in this historic tournament and I was left to ponder what could have been..." Check out the schedule of major blackjack tournaments by region in our Blackjack Tournament Report.
