Pittsburghers, including me, seldom say nice things about Cleveland, home to the ever-stumbling Browns, who serve as the Steelers' patsies twice every NFL season.
Bear that in mind as you read this report about JACK Cleveland, owned by JACK Entertainment, which also owns JACK Cincinnati and the Greektown casino in Detroit and is a partner in the Baltimore Horseshoe.
JACK Cleveland is in the heart of Downtown, near Progressive Field, home to the Indians, and Quicken Loans Arena, home to the Cavaliers and numerous concerts. The casino, which opened in 2012 as Ohio's first, was known as the Horseshoe until 2016. It's in the Higbee Building, which was used for the department store scenes in "A Christmas Story." Fittingly, a "Christmas Story" slot machine was on the first floor near escalators to the buffet and the second floor.
Free parking is available at the casino garage at 2151 Ontario St. for players' club members who put in a half-hour of table games or an hour of poker. Otherwise, city parking rates may apply. The garage is a one- to two-block walk from the casino, and an enclosed pedestrian bridge is available
