LAS VEGAS BLACKJACK REPORT: BOULDER STATION AND ARIZONA CHARLIE’S CASINOS
by KC Brooks
I have been addicted to blackjack ever since reading Revere’s "Playing Blackjack as a Business" when I was 15. The art of blackjack is a lifetime endeavor. I went through the learning process backwards, learning Revere’s Advanced Point Count first. I found out early that the actual count system is only a small piece of the puzzle. Presently, I travel "my" Devils Triangle (Reno, Wendover, Vegas}, playing mainly single- and double-deck games. Hi Lo is my choice of strategies and "Professional Blackjack" by Wong is my bible. I worship a large spread, and have been known to wong everywhere I go. Thank God I haven’t had to register as a wonger yet, but I am sure it is not too far off. I also help fellow AP Nick teach card counting at www.Blackjackclassroom.com.
For the next few months, I will explore the blackjack options at the casinos on Boulder Highway (east Las Vegas). The casinos that I will review include Joker’s Wild, Skyline, Eastside Cannery, Longhorn, Sam’s Town, Arizona Charlie’s, and Boulder Station. This month I’ll report on the gaming action at Boulder Station and Arizona Charlie’s.
Boulder Station, located at 4111 Boulder Highway in Las Vegas, is by far the largest of the casinos in this area of town. Just seven miles from McCarran Airport and minutes from the strip and Sam Boyd Stadium, Boulder Station is in the heart of the Vegas action.
Boulder Station offers over 300 rooms (that were recently renovated) dining options, a movie theater, a 75,000 square foot casino, and a special area just for kids. Family friendly and very reasonably priced for the budget minded……what more could you ask for?
The casino offers more than 2800 slot and video poker machines, three roulette tables, three craps tables, blackjack, mini-baccarat, Progressive Pai Gow, Three-Card poker, a 300 seat sports book, a 452 seat Bingo Hall, and an eleven-table poker room.
The poker room operates 24-7 and is easily the busiest on this side of town. The games offered include Omaha, limit and no-limit Hold’em, and Seven-Card Stud. Various promotions are offered daily, so if poker is your game, you need to check it out.
The three craps games offer 10x odds with $5-$2000 table limits, definitely some decent action for the dice setters out there.
Boulder Station offers some of the best...
