Blackjack in North Kansas

There are three Indian casinos worth noting in northern Kansas that offer blackjack. Two of the casinos offer low stakes betting, generally not worth the drive, but there is one casino in the Sunflower state that offers some attractive blackjack for the basic strategy player, as well as the card counter. All three casinos are located within an approximate 40-mile radius so that you can visit all three easily.

Sac n Fox

This is a small Indian casino located approximately 40 miles directly north of Topeka. On my visit, there were only two blackjack tables open. Both were six decks, with H17, DAS, and I believe RSA. Penetration was nothing to get excited about at about 4.2-4.5 out of 6 decks dealt out. Table limits were $5-500.

There was one double-deck table adjacent to the 6-deck table that was not open during my visit. The rules were not particularly attractive: H17, DAS, D9-11 only, and no RSA. Posted table limits were $10-200. Since the table was not open, I could not gauge penetration, but my recollection from several years ago was that penetration was poor- in the range of 50%. Although I have never logged enough hours to warrant any great comps or cash back, I am not aware of any offers or circumstances worth noting.

Overall, this casino is definitely not worth a special trip.

Golden Eagle

This is a similar sized casino to Sac n Fox, located about 40 miles northeast of Topeka. Make sure to bring your GPS. If you do not have good directions, this place is easy to miss. On my visit, there were two blackjack tables open, one DD, and one six-deck game. The rules for the six decks were the same as at Sac n Fox: H17, DAS, and RSA. Penetration was a little better at about 4.4-4.7 out of 6 decks. The rules on the DD were H17, DAS, and D8-D11 only. Penetration was decent at about 1.2 out of 2 decks. Table maximum was $300 on both tables. Although I have never logged enough hours to warrant any great comps or cash back, I am not aware of any offers or circumstances worth noting.

This place is a little better for a card counter than Sac n Fox but definitely not worth a special trip, unless you really like to look at cornfields.

Prairie Band

Prairie Band is a small casino by Vegas standards, but by Kansas standards, it is a big-time casino. It is a little closer and easier to access (if you are driving along I-70) than the other two casinos, and located about 15 miles north of Topeka in Mayetta, Kansas.

For starters, there is a decent size hotel on the property. Second, there is a nice golf course right across the street that is part of Prairie Band.
